Just kinda think of your roads as a hierarchy of "specificity". Keep playing the game and try things out, see what works and your cities will get progessively better. The absolutely best thing to do though is to keep at it! It can take a long time (for me it took roughly 300 hours) untill you just suddenly get a feel for it and start building things you're happy with. Inspiration is one of the key factors for me. When you see what others do you'll see things that you like and incorporate similair things into your builds. Or you could check out some of my screenshots 1, 2, Finding inspiration from others is to me the absolutely best way to build pretty things. I personally show my city off every now and then aswell if you'd be interested in that. If you want some examples for inspiration then I'd like to recommend LordDeimosIV and PeteMcTavish on twitch. There are some great guides in the sidebar that you should check out aswell. Look at real cities, streams, screenshots and youtube. Have suggestions for the sidebar / topbar?
